Police v S Ltd.
Our client, a fast food business, was in the process of expansion and opening a system restaurant in Manchester. A suitable property had been identified before it was to be marketed through estate agents. Our client was exceptionally keen on secure this property due to its location and identity. The director of the business managed to secure a cash deal and had also paid a £10,000 deposit, the balance of £180,000 was due to be paid within 7 days. On the day the deal was to be completed the police became suspicious of several motor vehicles parked outside a “derelict building,” which was building to be purchased! They recovered the cash and alleged criminality. The police conducted a thorough investigation but could not find any evidence of crime.
